STATEMENT:
It’s a Plea to God song about why the horrors of the world are allowed to happen, written by Paddy McAloon of Prefab Sprout.
I covered this song during the lockdown. The video I hope to make expressess the unsettling nature of the hyper-presence of the Internet in our culture, which both makes it harder to create meaningful interpersonal connections and overwhelmes us with the information of the suffering happening around the world. The device is the window where we see narratives of all kinds, which hungers and craves our attention.The prevalence of the device (a digital multi-tool) in our world makes it harder and harder to look away. As a sufferer of screen addiction I hope to use this video as a way to shine a light tomyself and others about the troubles of unchecked screen time. I want to get shots of people on their devices in many environments, private and public.
